We pride ourselves on being a caring and friendly department with staff and students working together closely at all times.

As a student on one of our sports programmes you'll have regular access to laboratories, high-quality sports facilities and specialist equipment to ensure you gain the relevant skills and experience needed for a career in sport.

Getting you a job after graduation is our number one priority and we have an excellent record with over 95% of our graduates in employment or further study within the first six months after finishing their degree.

Many of our students also go on to undertake exciting research projects after graduating - two of our former students are currently undertaking PhDs in the department, including a six month placement at a partner university in Rome.

Facilities

As a student on one of our sports programmes you'll have access to a wealth of high-quality and modern facilities. We have fully-equipped sports centres on both our Lancaster and Fusehill Street campuses, both of which have an air-conditioned fitness suite and a multi-purpose sports hall. 

In addition, as a student on one of our sport science programmes you'll regularly use our sports laboratory and human performance laboratory as part of your studies.

Students, staff and alumni at the University of Cumbria can also benefit from an enhanced sports card membership packages at leisure centres local to our campuses.

UoC Active

UoC Active brings together sports clubs, sports facilities on and off campus and the Students' Union. Our mission is to develop a healthy university for students, staff and local communities. UoC Active also offers exclusive deals on a range of sports award courses for students studying at the university which are partly subsidised by the Sport and Recreation service.
