KTPs

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) is a UK-wide programme enabling businesses and other organisations to improve their competitiveness, productivity and performance through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base. KTPs are funded by the Technology Strategy Board with several other funding organisations.

A KTP involves the forming of a partnership between your business and the University, enabling you to access the knowledge, technology, skills and expertise held by our academics, professionals and technical specialists. The knowledge sought is embedded into the business from the University through a project undertaken by a graduate or recently qualified person (known as the Associate), recruited to work specifically on that project. KTPs can vary in length from 6 months to 3 years depending on the needs of the business and the desired outcomes.

A Small to Medium sized enterprise (SME) can apply for a 60% grant toward the project costs, and a large business can apply for a 40% grant.

KTPs can help your business:

  • access highly qualified people to spearhead new projects
  • access experts who can help take your business forward
  • develop innovative solutions to help your business grow
  • develop your company for today’s market
  • increase your competitive advantage
  • improve your performance/business operations
  • increase profitability

At UoC we feel KTPs are really about exchange rather than transfer. This perhaps better describes the three-way flow of experience, skills and knowledge between the KTP partners.
