University of Cumbria: Level 4 Forest Schools Qualification

We have 3 course intakes planned for this academic year.

Yurt at Eden Brows The increasing interest in the ethos and development of Forest Schools has prompted the introduction of this very practically based course. The Course is designed to build upon the student’s existing knowledge of childcare and education, to give them the confidence and knowledge to deliver a forest school programme in their areas of expertise. This course is for early years practitioners, teachers of nursery, primary and senior schools, advisory teachers, youth teachers, rangers, scout leaders, outdoor educators etc. The course will include plenty of practical skills and students will be expected to learn to use and maintain tools such as billhooks, bow saws, axes and penknives. Most of the course will be held outdoors in a woodland setting with the use of a range of outdoor spaces.
