Biography
From 1991 to 1997 Andreas worked as researcher and assistant professor for Forest- and Forest Sector Policy and Forest Regional Planning at the University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BOKU) Vienna.
From 1997 to 2001 he held a position with the European Forest Institute (EF) (Joensuu, Finland) first as researcher in its “Forest Products Markets and Socio-economics Programme, later as acting programme manager and senior researcher for EFI’s “Policy Analysis” –programme.
From 2001 to 2003 he was affiliated with Wageningen University in the Netherlands as Assistant Professor for Forest and Nature Conservation Policy.
From 2003 to 2006 he was rejoined the European Forest Institute as Programme Manager for the EFI’s “Forest Products Markets and Socio-Economics” Programme.
He has been involved in numoerous national and international research and consultancy projects and has authored more than 70 national and international publications and has also been highly active as speaker at scientific and professional meetings.
Lately his research has focussed on illegal logging and FLEG(T)-processes in projects funded by DFID-UK, the Finnish Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry as well as the Ministerial Conference for the Protection of Forests in Europe (MCPFE). Within IUFRO he is the Leader of the IUFRO-Taskforce “Illegal Logging and FLEG(T) – processes”.
