VOLUNTER TO HELP DEVELOP ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Tanje Village Museum in The Gambia is seeking a volunteer to help develop its environmental education programme
This would be an ideal opportunity for a skilled volunteer seeking to broaden their experience.
We are seeking someone with:
Educational experience [Environmental education/ESD and/or formal teaching];
Some experience of fundraising and publicity.
The volunteer’s would support the development of the educational potential of the site, especially with schools groups [this might also include some outreach work to schools]
The Museum is a unique venture, offering an out of the classroom experience of Gambian history, culture and natural history.
The site includes galleries, a bantaba [meeting place], a nature trail, a conference centre and a traditional Mandinka village. Musicians, weavers and a blacksmith practice traditional crafts on-site.
Accommodation will be provided on-site.
The volunteer will need to organise and pay for their own flight to The Gambia.

We seek an Expedition Researcher to conduct a systematic literature review on overseas youth expeditions. The review will include English language peer reviewed journals, books, professional magazines, commissioned reports, PhDs, MSc (if found), but not expedition reports. In stage 1 all literature found will be entered into a database. In stage 2 the post holder will draw upon the database to write a review of the above research by 1st July 2010. This will entail writing a draft report (c20,000 words) and a 2,000 word executive summary. The project team comprises: Prof Tim Stott (Liverpool JMU), Dr Pete Allison and Dr Simon Beames (Edinburgh University). There would be no requirement for the post holder to be based at either LJMU or Edinburgh University (though this would be a possibility) provided reliable internet access is available. FIELD STUDIES OFFICER - 4 POSITIONS

Middleton Lakes is a brand new nature reserve in the heart of the Midlands, where we will bring wildlife close to people in innovative and exciting ways. We are beginning to build our education team with the recruitment of four Field Studies Officers. The team will assist the Lifelong Learning Officer in the development and delivery of an inspirational programme of first-hand educational experiences. You will work with formal and informal groups both onsite and as part of an outreach programme. The initial phase of development will focus on Secondary, FE and HE students, but successful candidates will be expected to deliver to all ages.
These are part time posts (minimum of 53 days per year - approx 20% of the full time equivalent) with variable hours and may require evening and weekend working. Two of the posts are term-time only. The posts are contract posts for one year in the first instance.
