Artist Residency

Social enterprise

We encourage our staff, students and graduates to undertake placements in the local community.  These often involve local people as participants and audiences, for example, site specific public performance, enhancing the public realm through visual art, and arts and music festivals.

Exhibitions

We work closely with a number of professional networks and venues in the region and often collaborate on exhibitions, providing new and emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit alongside established artists, often of national and international renown.  During the years 2003-2008 RACES has managed over 20 exhibitions that have included the work of over 300 artists. This collaboration reflects our innovative approach to the creative industries and looks to support and add value to the existing infrastructure.

Conference

Conferences and Events

Our team organise and manage a range of innovative conferences and events. Our success goes back many years, covers many subjects and engages many audiences. Speakers have included internationally renowned artists, scientists, authors, researchers, politicians and key decision makers. We encourage our student population to become involved in these events, for example, as stewards, journalists, photographers etc to gain valuable experience

The Artists Access to Art College Scheme

The Artists Access to Art College (AA2A) scheme operates in over 22 institutions within the UK, and the Faculty of the Arts has been lucky enough to host the scheme for the last six years. The scheme enables visual artists and makers the opportunity to undertake a period of research or realise a project, using workshop and supporting facilities in fine art and design departments of Higher and Further Education institutions.
