The Data Protection Act ensures that all organisations who handle your personal information, including the University of Cumbria, do so in accordance with a number of good practice principles.

We also have a Data Sharing Agreement with the University of Cumbria Students' Union.
Requests for information
Under the Data Protection Act, you also have the right to request a copy of information which the university holds on you.
There is a £10 charge for these kinds of requests and you must provide proof of your identity.
To make a request for the information we hold about you, please complete the Subject Access Request Form.

Putting things right
If you have any concerns about the way the University of Cumbria has handled your personal information, please contact our Records Management Officer in the first instance.
If we are still unable to resolve the issue, the university has a comprehensive Data Protection Act Complaints Procedure which you should use if:
- you believe the University of Cumbria has breached the Data Protection Act in the way it has handled your personal information or
- you have made a request under the Data Protection Act but feel that your request has been dealt with unfairly.
