MA Education
Do you want to take the next step in your career in education? A masters degree in education could be the key to extending your knowledge, improving your practice and advancing your career.
MA Education is a fully online programme for teachers, lecturers, professional development facilitators, learning support staff, leaders and those with wider roles within adult education and the children’s workforce. It's designed to support you in reaching the highest standard of scholarship and be a committed, responsible and creative professional, capable of critical thinking and practical action.
Much of our professional learning takes place informally and in the day to day interactions and processes within our workplace settings. The programme supports you in completing work-based projects so that there is synergy between your day to day work and the additional work required to gain the award.
The course runs in February and September. For more information and to apply online, visit the MA Education course page.
Help improve your school
Studying MA Education can benefit not only the individual learner, but their school as well. The programme is specifically designed to complement work, by supporting your colleagues in engaging with relevant research and developing their research skills to reflect on and further extend their practice. The potential contribution that accredited CPD can make to school improvement is significant.
According to Liam Nolan, headteacher of Perry Beeches, the most improved secondary school in the UK, the MA Education was central to his school's success.
"Studying MA level at the University of Cumbria was an excellent decision. In the short term it has helped me re-organise, re-think and re-shape our school and in the long term I know an MA lines me up for further professional promotion."
