Shortage Subjects
If you’re thinking about becoming a secondary school teacher, you may want to consider taking up one of the shortage subjects. These are subjects for which there is a lack of qualified teachers. In order to encourage more new teachers in these areas, the government provides bursaries for trainees with good degrees in these subjects.

The University of Cumbria is launching two brand new PGCE Secondary courses for 2012.
Physics with Mathematics
This unique course provides the opportunity to become a physics teacher with an additional specialism of mathematics, so you will be well placed to offer flexibility across subject specialisms in secondary schools. Find out more about the course.
