Psychological interventions, mental health and emotional wellbeing

The Psychological Interventions, Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing subject group is a dynamic and pro-active group of lecturers led by Principal Lecturer Alyson Dickson. The group is responsible for the management and delivery of a range of programmes in:

  • Mental Health counselling
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Autistic Spectrum
  • Management in health and social care
  • Continuing professional development

We also lead the learning disabilities and mental health branches of the pre-registration nursing programmes working very closely with the Nursing and Paramedic Science group which has lead responsibility for all pre-registration nursing.

We have a strong track-record of working with employers and voluntary organisations to design and deliver programmes ranging from short courses to full Masters degrees which are attractive to, and meet the needs of, participants and employers. We are also proud of the professional accreditation of our CBT (BABCP accredited) and undergraduate counselling (BACP accredited) programmes.
