Social Work at the University of Cumbria

About us

Our team have an involvement with a range of services, service providers, users and carers to ensure that our awards are relevant, current and meet employer and student needs.

Our subject strength is its knowledge base and specialist insight. We are conscious that the health and social care provision in the next decade will be radically different from that of the past. We are well placed to provide educational programmes that meet the needs of 21st century health and social care services.

All awards link theory to practice by integrating Evidence-Based Practice and Research, Work-based Learning, Negotiated Learning and Independent Study.

Our awards are suitable for those already working in or who wish to work in a wide range of health and social care settings such as Adult and Children’s Services, the NHS, Offender Management Services, educational support services and private and statutory health and social care agencies and organisations.

Study patterns are responsive to student and employer need. The use of a Virtual Learning Environment facilitates easy access for students working off site and for those who have to earn while they learn.

We have experience in supporting employers and students in the workplace and have a range of support systems for students returning to study and those new to study.
