Qualifications – UK degree with minimum 50% directly relevant subject knowledge to chosen teaching specialism. (We normally require a 2:1 Hons degree particularly for English with Media, Citizenship and History. Applicants with a relevant 2:2 Hons degree will be considered and a decision made based on the overall strength of their application in competition with other applicants); GCSE English Language and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
School experience – although not an entry requirement, we strongly recommend that you obtain a minimum of 2-3 days secondary school experience in a mainstream UK secondary school observing a class in your chosen teaching specialism before applying. Competitive subjects such as English and History may not select you without this experience.
Criminal Record Background clearance/Fitness to Teach – these are standard requirements for all teacher training courses.
