What is the application process and what are the interview arrangements?

Your application will be sent to the tutor for initial decision and tutors are given five days to respond. We will notify you of the outcome of your application via email. If you are selected for interview your application will be scheduled for interview in line with other applications, interviews are scheduled according to the date of application. Depending on the time of year there may be some delay in communicating this to you but we will do our best to schedule as quickly as possible.

You can normally expect to receive notification of your interview two weeks in advance. This will be notified to you by e-mail and will confirm the details of the interview with instructions on what to prepare.

All applicants will be expected to read an article and complete a written task on this. Depending on the subject you may also be expected to prepare a presentation or a micro teaching lesson and your level of subject knowledge will also be tested.

While we are looking at your potential for the profession, you are also expected to demonstrate knowledge of the realities of teaching. Therefore it is highly recommended that you arrange to spend time in school before your interview. In preparation for the day you should keep yourself updated with current educational issues and also be prepared to critically reflect and discuss the school experience that you have completed thus far.

The interview is essential to the selection process so it is important that you make yourself available. Please also note that it is a professional interview and you should dress and act accordingly.
