Course Summary
The course is a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, visiting speakers, computer simulations, group work and case studies. We use a range of assessments, from traditional examinations to projects and assignments applicable to the business world.
In the second and third years of your degree you will choose one of five specialist routes studying modules relating to:

Generalist - for those students who wish to keep an open, generalist approach to business management.

Marketing - preparing you to work in a variety of roles such as advertising account handler, brand management, campaigns and promotional management.

Human Resource Management - preparing you for work in recruitment, selection, training or employee development.

Retailing - preparing you for roles such as working in store management, category management, managing brands, promotions and buying.

Digital Economy - preparing you to work in the field of e-commerce and for roles such as working in procurement, distribution or customer-handling at a web interface.
You will also take part in a residential management development programme in the heart of the Lake District which focuses on skills development, leadership, project management and team working.
Modules
Our modules are in traditional management and business-related subjects such as marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy, economics and accounting. Other subjects, such as business ethics, are designed to challenge conventional management thinking.
