Why study with us?

If you decide to study at the University of Cumbria, you will be supported by a team of academic and clinical practice staff, who are not only expert in their field but also committed in providing a programme which is both challenging and rewarding. We recognise that nursing is a demanding profession but we can assure you that the programme will offer you a diverse and rich experience so that in 3 years time you will be a competent and confident registered nurse.

The University of Cumbria is uniquely positioned geographically so that you will gain experiences in the rural community but also within specialist centres within the acute hospital setting, and in doing so you will gain an appreciation of the patient’s journey through a range of health and social care services. As learner you will be encouraged to develop into a critical and reflective practitioner who understands the importance of developing a strong evidence base for your practice. We will encourage you to develop your skills and confidence in an innovative and creative learning environment, one which is not only challenging but very supportive of your individual needs as a student. We are confident that our student support mechanisms are designed so that you are encouraged to maximise your potential and become the nurse you aspire to be. We very much welcome you to the University of Cumbria as you begin your career in nursing!
