Why study with us?

Low levels of physical activity, obesity and long term health issues amongst children are high on the government’s agenda. How do we get children to be more active on a daily basis? This course, run by experienced tutors with extensive knowledge in this area, provides an understanding of physical activity in children.

This course is aimed at people who work with children, or are training to work with children in the future in particular classroom and teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisory, nursery staff, childminders and parents and those working in youth organisations.  

What can this course lead to?

You will gain a knowledge and understanding of the area of physical activity and children and be able to develop strategies and plans for increasing activity through active play, activity, transport and active families.

You could use this to progress onto one of our Higher Education Qualifications, eg: BA/DipHE Physical Education, BA/DipHE Sport Studies (Sport and Physical Activity Development).  

Course Summary

This course highlights the importance of physical activity in children and active lifestyles. There will be an opportunity to explore strategies and initiatives aimed at increasing activity amongst children and ways in which to encourage children to be more active.
