The aim of this module is for you to gain a comprehensive and systematic knowledge and practical understanding of the concepts, principles, tools and techniques which enable service improvement and to explore your own contribution and responsibility for this within a changing and dynamic practice environment.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of the module, you will demonstrate that you can:

1. Demonstrate a comprehensive and systematic knowledge of ‘improvement’ within the context of health care;

2. Critically apply key elements of the ‘Improvement Model’, PDSA cycle and process mapping which demonstrates originality of thought and development of strategic thinking within their field of practice;

3. Critically evaluate the impact of improvement initiatives on service users and carers;

4. Systematically reflect on the challenges, both perceived and real, on securing inter-agency working within the context of service improvement and demonstrate mastery in the application and suggestion of innovative approaches to overcome these;

5. Critically discuss the skills required to enable service improvement and reflect on their own role and responsibility as an improvement leader within a changing and dynamic practice environment
