Why study with us?

This module is drawn from the postgraduate Accelerated Physiotherapy programme. You will explore how Physiotherapy is progressed and modified in frequently encountered neurological conditions. An emphasis is placed on individualised approaches to the Physiotherapy management of the person with neurological dysfunction. The role of the Physiotherapist in the Health and Social care team will also be highlighted. Broader issues related to disability will also be addressed.

Course Summary

The pathology of frequently encountered neurological conditions across the lifespan including Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury; collaborative approaches to rehabilitation; social, cultural and ethical issues relating to disability; evaluation of theoretical and practical Physiotherapy skills such as; facilitation of movement, mobilisation techniques, and task specific training; individual and group approaches to management.

The method of assessment for this module will be a 2,250 word assignment plus practical examination.
