Lancaster Accommodation
The Halls of Residence
There are five halls of residence on campus, all of which are offered on a catered basis. William Thompson Hall has accommodation on eight floors (a lift is available to floors 1-7). Sarah Witham Thompson Hall and Gressingham Hall are two-storey blocks at the centre of the campus. Waddell North and South Halls are the most recently built halls of residence (1992), offering single rooms arranged in flats for up to seven people over 3 floors. Mill Hall, our self-catered hall option, is a converted mill and is part of Lancaster's attractive canalside development located approximately 1 mile from the campus.
The Bedrooms
Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, lamp, desk and easy chair. When you arrive, the bedroom will be clean and empty, ready for you to make into the kind of environment you like. There is also a wash hand basin in each bedroom, apart from in Waddell Hall. Please note that there are some twin-bedded rooms in William Thompson Hall and in Mill Hall.
The Bathrooms
In William Thompson Hall there are two bathrooms with shower and toilets per floor. Sarah Witham Thompson and Gressingham have bathroom, shower and toilet facilities on each floor and in Waddell, there is a bathroom, with a separate shower cubicle, toilet and full bathroom per flat of 7 people.
The Kitchens
There are kitchen facilities on each floor of the halls of residence (in Waddell, there is a kitchen in each flat). You will find a kettle, toaster, ironing board, fridge, freezer, microwave and cooker in each kitchen, so you don't need to worry about bringing lots of things from home.
Other on-site facilities include:
Laundry
William Thompson, Waddell and Mill Hall have coin-operated laundries on site for students' convenience.
Security
We have 24-hour security staff, seven days a week, who are assisted by strategically placed CCTV cameras.
On-site Catering
In the new Gateway building are View!, Room 301, and the Snack Zone, offering a wide variety of food and beverage options. Café Martineau is the place to go for a relaxing coffee and a tasty pastry. The Social Bar is open all day, with a full licence, providing snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks. It also has a pool table and wide screen TV and hosts many social events.
Sports Complex
We have a Sports Arena on site which is an excellent recreational facility. It has four badminton courts and is ideal for netball, basketball and indoor football. There is also a fully equipped fitness room containing joggers, steppers, rowers and bikes as well as a variety of resistance machines.
