Sports Injury Clinic
Sports Injury Clinic at Lancaster
Situated in the Sports Complex, Lancaster Campus, the Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic offers appointments to the general public at short notice and convenient times.
Iain Cole, Head Chartered Physiotherapist will be pleased to assist your return to sport in the shortest possible time by assessing, diagnosing and treating your injury.
Iain, also State registered, has undergone postgraduate training that includes Manual Therapy (Mobilising and Manipulation), Intramuscular Stimulation, sport injury care and exercise rehabilitation. In addition, continuing professional development has been undertaken and research into the recovery from low back dysfunction and chronic tendon dysfunction is being performed.
The clinic is recognised by all major insurance companies and firms handling medical claims. A doctor's referral is not necessary. The clinic is also accredited by UK Athletics to treat elite level athletes. Students and staff of the University of Cumbria benefit from a reduced rate.
Initial appointments are around 45 minutes duration and include treatment. Particularly complex conditions that have been present for a long period, or affect many parts of the body may benefit from a longer appointment. A choice of treatment is often offered and may include Intramuscular Stimulation, the use of dry needling using acupuncture needles. This technique is especially effective with chronic painful conditions affecting the lower back and neck. Other treatments include mobilisation or manipulation of joints and, wherever possible, exercises to perform at home or in the gym are offered.
Appointments may be made by calling 01524-526526.
