Welcome to the web pages for the University of Cumbria’s Human Resources (HR) Service where you can read about the University’s approach to people management and why we are an employer of choice.

We recognise staff as our greatest asset and so we aim to create a working environment which engages staff and enables them to give of their best, take pride in their work and so make a real difference.

The HR Service is committed to helping develop the University of Cumbria as an inclusive “employer of choice” which attracts, rewards and retains high calibre staff who are engaged and enabled to help shape and achieve its aims.  Our purpose is, in pursuit of strategic goals, to support the effective development and deployment of the University’s greatest assets; its staff.  We devise and implement, in partnership with others, HR policies, procedures and practices which ensure that there is good, effective and consistent people management throughout the University.
