Applications

ICTS Applications Team consists of five members and deals with the implementation and maintenance of corporate UoC business applications. The applications supported include:-

  • Agresso (Finance)
  • CAS (Nursing Placements)
  • Blackboard (Virtual Learning Environment)
  • Kx (Accommodation)
  • Resource Link (Human Resources & Payroll)
  • SITS (Higher Education student records) & Icon (SITS web front end)
  • Syllabus Plus (Timetabling)
  • UNIT-e (Further Education student records)
  • Uniware

All corporate applications are off-the-shelf products that have been tailored for the University's needs. This enables prompt support and regular updates to implement new functionality and respond to changing regulatory requirements.

In general the business applications supported are dedicated to staff users, although a number of the web applications are geared towards student usage.

We also work on developments to enable data access and consistency across the applications, notably a number of cross-application interfaces and the automatic management of student and staff access to the University facilities.

Project work forms a significant proportion of our workload and is carried out in distinct, formal packages of work. Often the project is customer led, although in all cases the Applications Team will designate a team member to be the ICTS project team leader. This team member will project-manage all aspects of ICTS involvement.
