Learning technology in the classrooms

All Learning spaces accross the University campuses have been categorised to make it easier to know what equipment you can expect to find in each room. The equipment will be maintained and regularly reviewed by LISS to ensure that it is fit for purpose.

There are four categories which have been devised and each learning space has been designated as being one of these types.

 The room categories are:

  • Basic
    Containing limited audiovisual equipment, for example an OHP and a television

  • Standard
    Standard category rooms contain additional media items such as multimedia projector, sound (speakers/amplifier), DVD/video playback, PC, equipment cabinet

  • Standard Plus
    As standard room type with the addition of an interactive whiteboard (smartboard)

  • Premium
    Typically lecture theatres containing the items in Standard Plus as well as a videoconference system, audience polling/voting, equipment control panel etc.
