Graduation booking information
On 5 March 2012 all students who are potentially eligible to graduate to July were emailed a link to the on-line booking form on Icon. Please make sure you check your university email account!
Booking will open for the November 2012 ceremonies on Monday 18 June 2012.
Don't wait until you receive your results - assume you will pass and book your place as early as possible.
Booking your attendance and guest tickets is very straightforward - all you need to do is follow these easy steps:
-
Enter your password. This is the password you normally use to access Icon (eg when completing on-line registration r viewing your results). If you have not received a password previously, or you cannot remember it, please use the 'Forgot your password?' link found on the login page.
-
Follow the on screen instructions to check and update your details, request ceremony and reception tickets or indicate that you are not attending.
Please note, if there are any amendments required to the name you wish to appear on your certificate or should you wish to check the title of award, please contact the SIP at your campus of study.
You must let us know your attendance and any amendments that need to be made, possibly in writing, by the following date:
-
26th March 2012 for July 2012 ceremonies
If you decide not to attend your ceremony, we would still like to hear from you. In this case you will be graduating "In-Absentia" and your name will appear in the programme but will not be read out.
Ideally, we'd like you to complete the online booking form but will accept acknowledgement by email or telephone, accompanied by your student ID number. You'll need to contact us by the same deadline as if you were attending.
You do not need a ticket for yourself. Everyone who books by the deadline will be allocated two guest tickets (where requested).
Extra tickets
Once all the University Assessment Boards have met, a small number of extra guest tickets MAY be available. You will be able to apply on-line for extra tickets (up to a maximum of two) for a limited period from 7 June. We will send you an email nearer the time confirming the details.
Please note our ceremonies are heavily subscribed so there is no guarantee that extra tickets will be available.
Confirmation of ticket allocation
In early July (once we have received confirmation of who is eligible to graduate) we will send you an email advising whether you have been allocated additional tickets.
Children, accompanied by an adult, are very welcome at our ceremonies. However, your graduation is a formal event and young children may find them less entertaining than the adults in attendance. Therefore, you may wish to bring a (quiet!) toy along to keep your child entertained and we suggest sitting at the end of an aisle, near an exit so your guests can easily pop out if your child becomes restless.
As there is a fire safety limit on the number of people permitted in the Cathedral, we cannot allow children access without a ticket - even if they are sitting on someone's knee. Therefore, all guests (with the exception of babies in arms) must have a ticket and occupy a seat.
Cumbria County Council can provide details of creches and nurseries in the local area.
The ceremony will be shown on a screen in the Lecture Theatre at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery. Guests will be admitted 30 minutes before the ceremony on a first come, first served basis. No tickets are required but please be aware, due to capacity, we cannot guarantee entry.
Important:
Guests taking seats in the video link room will NOT be allocated tickets for the Complimentary Celebratory Reception (see next paragraph) following your ceremony, as capacity does not allow this.
All graduates and guests are invited to a celebratory reception (with complimentary light refreshments) at the Crown & Mitre Hotel where you can celebrate with your tutors and fellow graduates.
Unfortunately, due to capacity, we are unable to allocate reception tickets to guests seated in the video link room.
Please note that graduands do require a reception ticket.
