Photocopying and printing

Photocopying

Photocopiers are available in all the site libraries. The machines are activated by your Cumbria card which is also your photocopying card. If you are not a University of Cumbria student, please ask at the library desks about photocopying.

You can recredit your card at the following locations:

  • Ambleside - Charlotte Mason Building
  • Carlisle (Fusehill Street) - Outside security office, Bowscale
  • Lancaster - Harold Bridges Library entrance foyer
  • Penrith - Room CCL010 Ground floor, Library.

Copyright

Each borrower is personally responsible for complying with the copyright regulations governing the use of the library photocopier and interlibrary loans. LISS (Learning Information & Student Services) does not accept responsibility if any user has action taken against them by the CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency) for breach of copyright. Notices are displayed beside the photocopiers explaining what material may legally be copied under the Library's licence and which works are excluded. If in doubt, please consult a member of the LISS staff for further information.

Printing

A black and white printer is located in each of the computer suites and the computers will default to that local printer.

The cost is 5p per A4 sheet of black and white.

All computers are linked to a colour printer but this may not be in the same room as the computer. Colour printers are located in:

  • Carlisle, Brampton Road, Reprographics area including A3 and large format
  • Carlisle, Fusehill Street in CH1, The Learning Gateway and the Library
  • Lancaster in  CC6, Open Access Room
  • Newton Rigg, Penrith in CCL119, Open Access Room.

You will need to select the colour printer in Print Options.

The cost is 20p per A4 sheet of colour printing.

Paying for your printing

New students are credited with £1 on their student network printer account.

Once you have used your free credit, printing for your own personal work/use must be paid for in advance by putting credit onto your printing account. To do this you need to take your Cumbria Card and money to an Autoloader (printing credit machine) and follow the instructions. You will need to associate your card to your username the first time you do this.

The Autoloader machines are available 24 hours and are at the following locations:

  • Carlisle, Brampton Road, next to the Graphics room
The Reprographics photocopier is pay before use with reprographics staff
  • Carlisle, Fusehill Street, next to security office, Bowscale and in the library
  • Lancaster, in the outer foyer, Harold Bridges Library
  • Newton Rigg, Penrith CCL010, Ground Floor, Library.

If there is a problem with the Autoloader please report this to the IT Service desk so it can be dealt with promptly.

Checking your printing credit balance

You can check how much credit you have on your printing account from any University of Cumbria computer, once you have logged on.

Move the mouse cursor over the black "£" on the bottom right hand side of the screen. A pop-up box will appear with the amount displayed.

On computers at Brampton Road there is an icon at the top right of the screen.
