Sports and Fitness
Penrith offers a range of sports for students.
Alongside the usual abundance of rugby and football opportunities, Penrith also boasts cricket, squash and tennis clubs. Penrith golf club is regarded as one of the best in the country and Penrith Leisure Centre offers a wide range of activities from the gym to bowls and climbing.
More specific to this area, based just outside Penrith, is the Ullswater Yachting Club, which students can join for just £14. Penrith is on the edge of the Lake District, which offers much more in the outdoor sports market, such as rock climbing and water sports.
The University of Cumbria at Penrith has a wide range of facilities available for students studying and living on campus. There is an all weather pitch, sports hall and a gym which has a range of cardiovascular equipment, resistance machines as well as a free weights area.
Students have access to a swimming pool at the local leisure centre.
