Pre-school Centre

Mission statement

The Pre-School Centre in Lancaster offers a comprehensive care and education facility to all children who meet the age criteria. In a carefully planned environment, which recognises individual needs and fosters independence and socialisation, your child will be allowed to develop to their full potential. We welcome the participation of parents and operate an open door policy. The Centre will put your child on the first step to lifelong learning.

Admissions policy

The centre is registered for 12 children aged between 0-2 years and 44 children aged between 2-5 years. The number of children is determined by the registration certificate and is the overriding admissions policy.

A pre-determined number of sessions (reviewed annually) are reserved for university staff and students. Priority is also given to children moving up to the next group. Following this process, places are allocated if staff/child ratios allow and are determined by the length of time on the waiting list. Every effort is made to ensure that children with special needs are included and have the level of support required to meet their individual needs. The centre will not discriminate against any child on the grounds of sex, race, religion or creed.

Conditions of booking

A deposit of one week‘s fees will be collected when you book a place. If the place is no longer needed two months notice will be required prior to the start date or the deposit will not be refunded. All deposits are reimbursed when your child leaves the pre-school centre providing there are no outstanding balances.
