ABOUT OUR ALLIANCE

You will be trained by outstanding teachers within our alliance of schools, all within the Preston area, leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate of Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

The Preston Primary and Secondary Alliance, working in partnership with the University of Cumbria, consists of a variety of primary, secondary and special schools with a proven track record of providing outstanding teacher training. Lead school, Broughton High School, and Archbishop Temple School have been designated national Teaching Schools and have been recently ranked within the top twenty state secondary schools nationally. Queen’s Drive Primary, also judged as outstanding in every inspection category, is our primary Teaching School. The evaluations from our trainees have been consistently excellent and we can assure you of a very warm welcome.

This area is well served by excellent schools and our staff are well-qualified, supporting our pupils in achieving life enhancing results and encouraging every one of our children to ‘get involved’ and to enjoy and achieve in equal measure.

All the schools in our alliance have excellent transport links and are within easy reach of the M6 junction 32 (M55 junction 1). There are a variety of accommodation facilities in and around Preston.

Working in partnership with the University of Cumbria we have designed an exciting training opportunity that combines school placement experiences with training and development opportunities that take place across our partnership schools, as well as at the University of Cumbria.

The University of Warwick provides accreditation for the QTS element of these University of Cumbria programmes.
