Ambleside Active Facilities

Ambleside campus students have free access to a recently opened functional training facility. These facilities were created for the students, based on feedback from the students.  The facility hosts a variety of resistance and cardiovascular stations such as:

• 1x Watt Bike
• 2x Treadmill
• 1x Rowing Machine
• 1x Duel cable machine
• 1x Power Rack with over 300kg's worth of plates
• 2x 20kg Barbells
• 1x 15kg Barbell
• 1x EZ Bar
• Kettlebells ranging from 4kg - 28kg
• Medicine balls ranging from 6kg - 10kg
• Dumbbells ranging from 2.5kg - 25kg
• Resistance bands
• Weighted vest
• Pilates mats
• 2x Large mats
• Skipping ropes
• Steps

Accessibility for Disabled Access

There is a door at the bottom of the Stockghyll building, also there is a ramp around the right-hand side of the building to access the gym. There is an accessible toilet and shower located downstairs and another toilet upstairs.

Showers and Changing Rooms

• 4x showers (includes 1x accessible shower)
• Changing rooms and lockers available to store personal goods.

Support and guidance

Savannah is a qualified Personal Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Pilates Instructor. She plays football at a semi-professional level and has also competed in Powerlifting. She looks to support you whilst you’re in the gym and answer any questions you may have related to improving your health and fitness.

Our university use only facility provides Unlimited access to our functional Training themed fitness suite including access to Group training and pilates classes ran by UoC Active staff.

Premium members get additional access to facilities operated by Better Leisure in Cumbria (UoC staff/Students Only). This includes gym, swim, exercise classes and sports hall activities.
