Max Evans-Kirkman's Chunky Wombat Media Ltd name

Max Evans-Kirkman joined the University of Cumbria as a mature student developing a passion for camera work early on in his studies.  With an eye for detail and commitment to produce high quality work, Max was soon receiving praise and encouragement from the academic staff.

Whilst at university Max’s achievements included involvement in the development and creation of UOCTV, the university’s YouTube channel and was the cinematographer on ‘Funkenflug’, an RTS-winner in the short film category.

Max has worked on over 200 film and photography productions since he joined the University of Cumbria in 2011, which has included working with the BBC, Radio 4, Thomas and Friends, Warwick Davis, The Animals’ Refuge, and a wide variety of corporate and small business work undertaken since he graduated and went onto develop his own business Chunky Wombat Media Ltd.

Making the most of his time at university Max took advantage of the different openings available and when the opportunity to take part in a Student Enterprise and Employability event arose, he took part in a ‘panel session’ offering advice and support to students who were considering the different options on graduation, including self-employment.  Student Enterprise Co-ordinator at the university, Sylvia Grainger, said it was a pleasure to work with Max and the students who attended gained an insight into his entrepreneurial journey both during the panel session and during the informal networking which followed.

Chunky Wombat Media Ltd, a graphic design and video production studio, emphasising print, web design, branding and promotional videos was established by Max with partner Natalie Faunch.  Working with a team of UoC graduates they have passion to make high quality graphic design services available to all with a customer base including individuals, clubs, bands, charities and small businesses as well as the larger organisations.
