Heather is Professor of Outdoor and Environmental Education. Her interest in this area is driven by a passion to enable all children and young people to experience the outdoors.
Managed risks in a range of contexts can be of benefit and lead to innovation and progress. This lecture will explore the benefits of risk-taking in the outdoors and during adventurous activities, but also in teaching, learning and research. Examples of risk-benefit practices will be outlined to illustrate positive outcomes, particularly in enabling children and young people to experience the outdoors.
