Would you like to contribute to shaping how the Glover review is put into practice?

Would you like to contribute to shaping how the Glover review is put into practice? Featuring Julian Glover as keynote speaker with Defra in attendance, this conference will bring together National Parks, AONBs, Defra, Natural England, the CNP, and NGOs with academics to prepare an action plan for two proposals from the Glover Review on Landscapes. This conference is hosted by the Centre for National Parks and Protected Areas at the University of Cumbria, Ambleside.

Defra are working on their response to the Glover Review so this is a critical time to be making co-ordinated input to Defra.

The two proposals we will focus on are:

Proposal 7: A stronger mission to connect all people with our national landscapes, supported and held to account by the new National Landscapes Service

Proposal 17: National landscapes working for vibrant communities

Morning Session

Plenary Sessions provide an overview and inspiring work addressing the two Proposals. Speakers include Julian Glover, Adelle Rowe, Head of Connecting People with Places at Natural England, Dr Anjana Khatwa on encouraging BAME participation in enjoying our protected landscapes, and Professor Mark Shucksmith advisor to the NERC and Rural Communities Committees in the House of Lords. The Morning will be chaired by Howard Davies, Chair of the AONBs.

Afternoon Session

The conference will split into two working groups each focusing on one of the Proposals. The sessions will begin with 5-7 Lightening Presentations followed by a facilitated Workshop to develop an Action Plan for that Proposal to then present to Defra.

We would like you to Participate!

Have you undertaken work in the area of these two Proposals? Can you demonstrate best practice within your landscape? Would you like to share your experiences so others can learn from you? We are running a call for the afternoon lightning presentations- You will have 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 slides;

We have space for 5 Lightning Presentations for each of the two Proposals.

Please submit your 100 word proposal to Carrie.Hedges@cumbria.ac.uk. Deadline for lightning talk proposals is midnight Friday 28th February 2020.
