Climate change is perhaps the single biggest challenge facing humanity in the 21st Century, and is an issue that every one of us has an opinion about.
There is an overwhelming scientific consensus of the role that anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases plays in forcing climate over the past century, and there are increasingly alarmist predictions of the implications of climate change to 2100 and beyond to 2300. However, there is also a clear understanding of what needs to be done to solve this problem, and that the solutions are technically achievable and economically viable.
So why has humanity not solved climate change yet? This masterclass will explore the science and the politics of climate change, and demonstrate the role that Geographers will play in getting all of humanity to step up to, and overcome this global grand challenge.
The session will be delivered by a leading member of academic staff and has been designed for anyone who has an interest in pursuing a career in Geography.
You will be awarded 16 UCAS points** for attending this masterclass.
** NB. The reduction will be applied on application and points cannot be redeemed retrospectively, if you have already applied to the University. They can only be redeemed against University of Cumbria courses linked to the masterclass.
