Growing up neglected: Using the story of Harry Potter to explore the impacts of neglect and abuse in childhood

This masterclass will explore the concepts of neglect and abuse, and engage in critical discussion on how the neglect of older children may go unseen.

You'll learn how the behaviour of older children must be understood in the context of trauma and find out about initiatives that aim to provide a multi-agency response to older children.

The session will be delivered by a leading member of academic staff and has been designed for anyone who has an interest in pursuing a career working with children and families

Masterclass award

You will be awarded 16 UCAS points** for attending this masterclass. 24 UCAS points are available on completion of the reflective piece.

** NB. The reduction will be applied on application. Points cannot be redeemed retrospectively if you have already applied to the university; they can only be redeemed against University of Cumbria courses linked to the masterclass.
