This free one-day symposium highlights the latest research on hidden victims of interpersonal violence and it is an opportunity to explore methods of overcoming cultural and social barriers and engage with the affected communities. Although we acknowledge the difficulties and the fear experienced by anyone who is a victim of interpersonal violence, we intend to focus on hidden population groups or those underrepresented in conventional academic discourses on interpersonal violence, such as, male victims, stateless children, migrants, LGBTQ+, and child to parent violence.

This Symposium will offer academics, students, local authorities, police officers, voluntary organisations and other key stakeholders a timely and invaluable opportunity to share knowledge and best practice to collectively strengthen our understanding and response to Interpersonal Violence as experienced by victims who are often hidden and consequently neglected. We are delighted to also be able to welcome Professor Erica Bowen from the University of Worcester who will discuss some of her work on intimate partner violence within populations with intellectual disabilities.
