Kate Davis lives in Cumbria. She has written plays for both stage and radio, and has developed several artworks and installations combining sound and text. Her poems have been appeared in a range of contexts and in 2013 she received a Northern Writers Award, New Poets Bursary. Her debut poetry collection, The Girl Who Forgets How to Walk, was published in 2018.
Polly Atkin lives in Cumbria. Her second pamphlet, Shadow Dispatches (2013), won the Mslexia Pamphlet Prize, 2012 and her first poetry collection, Basic Nest Architecture appeared in 2017, followed by a third pamphlet, With Invisible Rain (2018). She is working on a memoir exploring place, belonging and chronic illness, and a biography focusing on Dorothy Wordsworth’s later life. Her second poetry collection Much With Body, will be published by Seren in 2021, supported by a 2020 Northern Writers Award.
Both Kate Davis and Polly Atkin are co-founders of the Open Mountain initiative at Kendal Mountain Festival, which seeks to centre voices that are currently at the margins of outdoor, mountain and nature writing.
