Congratulations on getting a job with us! This page provides details from the HR Service about pre-employment checks, including Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring Service clearances.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks

Some of our roles require a DBS check, which will be stated in the job description and also in the offer letter.

If this is required, you'll be contacted by the university to complete a self disclosure questionnaire and to arrange a DBS identity check. For this, you'll need to bring in specified identity documents. These are listed in the "Acceptable DBS ID" documents below.

*Please read any references to ‘registering on or starting your proposed course’ as ‘taking-up your post’.

Right to Work Checks

As directed by UK Visas and Immigration and as a licensed sponsor, we have certain responsibilities that we must uphold.

One of these is ensuring that we have valid right to work evidence for each employee recorded. To do this, we ask you to bring the original(s) plus one copy of your documentation if you are shortlisted for interview as this check must be conducted face to face.

It is essential to do this prior to employment so that we only hire applicants with valid right to work in the UK status.

Download the valid list of right to work evidence (provided by UK Visas and Immigration) to see which documents are acceptable.
