The University has recently introduced a range of Higher and Degree Level Apprenticeships, ranging from Nursing, Healthcare Science, Policing, and Leadership & Management.

Degree Apprenticeships are real degrees but delivered flexibly alongside you job.  Building on our successful launch of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, the University of Cumbria is developing an apprenticeship programme to support talent development, through the Senior Leaders Master's Degree. The new apprenticeship standard is designed to develop strategic leaders and potential leaders of the future.

Qualification

The Senior Leader Master's Degree programme will provide learners with a rich programme over two years part-time study leading to a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Cumbria's Business School.

Successful apprentices may also be eligible for membership or fellowship of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) or ILM Institute for Leadership and Management

  • Leadership & Organisation Behaviour
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Finance for Managers
  • Sustainability Issues in Business
  • Marketing Planning
  • Information and Operations
  • Research Methods for Business and Management Independent Project

Who’s it for

The apprenticeship is suitable for senior leaders in organisations of all sizes in the private, public and third sectors.

It is for anyone who leads, organises and directs organisations, specific jobs roles may vary, but may include General Manager, Senior Manager, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer etc.

Entry Requirements

Typically we would expect you to have around three years in a managerial, professional or technical experience within your organisation or profession, giving you a practical base on which to build your studies.

Entry is by application and can be discussed on an individual basis with applicants.

Funding

If you work for a levy-paying organisation, you can to pay from you Digital Levy Account, speak to your employer to see if they can fund it. If you work for a non-levy paying employer government support means that 90% of the cost of the apprenticeship is funded therefore costing only £1800.00
