University of Cumbria staff and alumnus joined NHS colleagues from across Cumbria in marking the 70th birthday of the organisation.
An event in Carlisle city centre on Saturday drew interest from a wide range of people as nursing lecturers demonstrated historical equipment and explained how some procedures were once performed.
Newly qualified nurse Zoe Butler who graduated from the university a year ago and was also awarded student nurse of the year was among alumnus who also took part in the event.
"It was a great day for all the services and the University of Cumbria to get together to celebrate the NHS 70th Birthday," Louise Nelson, head of department for health, nursing and professional practice, said. "The support from the public was wonderful and there was a feeling of camaraderie and support from all the health and care services."
Earlier in the week members of the university’s student academic and administrative service in Lancaster took part in the “Wear it Blue” day to mark the birthday. The group also raised money which will be donated to the Morecambe Bay Trust charity http://www.bayhospitalscharity.org/
