Ambleside campus hosts 'Poetics of Leadership' event

The Ambleside campus of the University of Cumbria was the location for a conference aimed at stimulating creativity within leaders during challenging times.

Around 100 delegates from business, academia and research attended The Poetics of Leadership, a collaboration between the university‚Äôs Institute for Leadership and Sustainability (IFLAS), the Crossfields Institute and the Institute of Philosophy and Aesthetics at Alanus University in Germany.

The creative heritage of the cultural landscape of the Lake District, now recognised by UNESCO, was used to inspire participants who spent the weekend hearing from a wide range of speakers on campus and making the most of the surrounding countryside.  Creative writing as a method for personal leadership development, poetry as an aid for exploring emotions and the visual and performing arts as a means of enabling new ideas were areas discussed by delegates.
