Knowledge and ideas are at the core of business success. Cumbria’s economic growth will be built upon the foundation of successful businesses. Cumbria’s Global Entrepreneurship Week will see the successful partnership of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and the University of Cumbria again delivering free training and advice.
Individuals and groups from local companies and students, seeking to start their own business or become self-employed, will enjoy the opportunity to take part in full-day programmes on the 14 and 17 November in Carlisle and Ambleside respectively. Delegates will be able to attend in depth sessions delivered by local experts ranging from finance and business planning through to marketing and sales to more effective business communications. There will also be a social media boot camp for those wishing to exploit the benefits of the internet to boost their turnover and profile.
Lesley Robinson, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce’s Start-Up & Enterprise Manager, said: “Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great time to showcase the support on offer to people looking to start their own business or in the very early stages of trading throughout Cumbria. Working in partner with the University of Cumbria we’re pleased to be able to offer free training sessions on relevant business topics free of charge as part of Entrepreneurship Week.”
“The university is delighted to support the chamber and local businesses in this exciting and valuable initiative to bring the knowledge of Cumbria’s experts to support economic growth” said Sylvia Grainger, the university’s student enterprise coordinator.
This year’s Global Enterprise Week will also have an international dimension. Selected sessions will be streamed over the internet to groups of the university’s students based in Malaysia.
Cumbria’s Global Entrpreneurship Week activities will be based in the University of Cumbria, Business Interaction Centre, Paternoster Row, Carlisle on 14 November and at the university’s Ambleside campus on 17 November.
