A top Lake District National Park Authority(LDNPA) official is joining the University of Cumbria as interim director of marketing and recruitment.
Jayne Pugh, formerly Head of People and Communications at the LDNPA will start the role on Monday 31 July.
Janye led on the development of the ‘Evolving Masterpiece' campaign, which saw the Lake District designated the newest World Heritage Site. The creative concept of 'We Are The Lakes' was developed by Jayne - a link that will be invaluable to the university. Ensuring that it makes the most of the resulting international recognition to help attract students, funding and to play an important role in shaping why Cumbria is significant globally.
During her time with LDNPA, Jayne took them on a journey of opening up their brand to connect with more customers and deployed digital strategies, including boosting web traffic by 1.3 million unique users.
Speaking about her appointment, Jayne Pugh, said: “I am really looking forward to working with the University of Cumbria during the next six months. I hope my creativity combined with my strategic approach to marketing communication will help the university to raise its profile further and boost recruitment. I’ve been blessed with an incredible career, spanning: journalism, public relations, marketing, campaign development, employee engagement, culture change, volunteer management, human resources and organisational development, which has given me the privilege to work with amazing people across the public, private and third sector”.
Jayne replaces the incumbent Director of Marketing and Communications, Gill Haigh, who recently announced she was leaving the university to take up a new role as Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism.
To ensure the continued focus and momentum within this important area of work, Jayne will take up this post on an interim basis for six months and the university will recruit on a permanent basis in the new academic year.
The role is a significant one for the university as it moves formally into the recruitment cycle for 2018/19, launching the new strategic plan and repositioning itself for future sustainability and success. Jayne brings with her a wealth of experience in this field as an award-winning marketing communications expert and cultural transformation specialist.
Jayne will be working with colleagues to take forward existing plans, as well as developing new approaches to marketing and recruitment, in line with the university’s strategic plan.
