Senior Morecambe Bay nurses visit university to see apprentices at work
Trailblazing Nurse Degree Apprentices have met members of the senior nursing team working for the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
20 are currently working at hospitals across Morecambe Bay while also studying at the University of Cumbria.
The programme, which is a first in the UK, will offer apprentices the opportunity to train as a registered adult nurse.
“This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with UHMBT in becoming an early adopter of the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship Programme,” Emma Moore, senior lecturer at University of Cumbria, said. “The apprentices are receiving the benefits of an employer supported vocational approach to learning as well as university higher education provision and support to achieve a BSc (Hons) Nursing qualification within 4 years.”
