A celebration of achievement will take place next week in Carlisle Cathedral when 1,100 graduates from the University of Cumbria receive their degrees and awards. Along with families, friends and guests they will attend throughout three days at a total of eight ceremonies.
The events will be held on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November, giving the graduates the opportunity to enjoy their academic success in the presence of those who supported them throughout the long years of study. Their achievements cover a wide range of subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Prior to each graduation ceremony, there will be a formal procession into the cathedral with staff and graduates in academic robes. Celebratory receptions will take place at the Crown & Mitre Hotel immediately after each ceremony.
As always, the graduates will also be joined by a number of the university’s special guests – those who have been nominated to receive the award of Honorary Fellow. Honorary fellowships are awarded in recognition of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the university and in support of a variety of causes linked to the work of the university, and at the ceremonies next week seven honorary fellowships will be presented as follows:
