Cumbria law student wins prestigious national award

University of Cumbria law student Elizabeth Park (Liz) has been awarded a prestigious national prize. Liz, 35, is one of only five students in the country to receive the Neuberger Prize from The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, one of the four Inns of Court in London and a leading centre for the training and development of student and qualified barristers in the UK. The prize is awarded in recognition of her outstanding work during her studies on the university's LLB (Hons) Law course.

Students capture wildlife wonders for 2021 calendar 

Aspiring wildlife photographers and filmmakers have pooled their talents to create a 2021 calendar.  University of Cumbria’s Wildlife Society has selected 13 stunning images of nature for its calendar. Showing a diversity of animal, bird, insect and plant life, the collection features coastal birds such as the Sandpiper, forest and woodland’s Tawny Owls, the nocturnal badger and, shining a light on the importance of invertebrates, the role of bees and moths in pollination.

Virtual visit to University of Cumbria by Universities Minister Rt Hon Michelle Donelan

Universities Minister the Rt Hon Michelle Donelan today heard how University of Cumbria is continuing to provide a quality learning experience throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and discussed its growing role and impact as the anchor higher education institution for the region. Minister Donelan met with University of Cumbria Vice Chancellor, Professor Julie Mennell alongside other members of her senior leadership team.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic some elements of support from University of Cumbria's outreach team are available, for the first time, on demand to young people and others who are interested in higher education and exploring training and career options. Diversity research, teaching and learning enrichment at Cumbria’s university

Building upon its academic excellence and unique characteristics, University of Cumbria is enriching its teaching and learning of and research into diversity. Recent achievements include recognition on a national stage for academic research which gives insight into factors affecting aspirant headteachers from minority ethnic and other backgrounds seeking to pursue school leadership roles; and enrichment of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) for student teachers.
