About Our School

The Carlisle School Direct partnership schools, both Primary and Secondary alike, work closely together and are experienced in the delivery of excellent initial teacher training with committed, talented mentors in place in all schools. Our highly-rated School Direct programme offers a superb route into our rich and rewarding profession.

Our partnership offers both Primary and Secondary trainee teachers a rich and varied experience of different types of schools in a range of settings, from schools in local market towns, to schools in outlying villages, to city centre schools in the heart of Carlisle itself.

Within the partnership, we have extensive experience of delivering high quality professional development opportunities to teachers at all stages of their careers. Practicing specialists in areas such as behaviour management and differentiation from across our schools will provide expert guidance on key aspects of the craft of the classroom.

Working in partnership with the University of Cumbria we have designed an exciting training opportunity that combines school placement experiences with training and development opportunities that take place across our partnership schools, as well as at the University of Cumbria.

If you have any enquiries, please don't hesitate to contact either Jacqui Percival (Primary) or David Medley (Secondary).

‘I think it is beneficial towards my future career as it enables me to gain an understanding of various schools.’

‘I have thoroughly enjoyed the training days. Guest speakers have always been engaging and relevant, and have helped profusely with the current assignments…a warm environment for us to learn in, and I look forward to each session with the group.’
