PGCE Primary – part-time Flexible Modular
What made you choose your course?
As it was flexible and part-time it enabled me to continue to hold down my job, which was vital as I have a family.
What did you do after graduation?
I continued to work at a residential school for boys with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Staff changes in the school led to me becoming a full-time history teacher.
It’s tricky most of the time, but also enjoyable and a lot of fun, as long as you have a thick skin and well-developed sense of humour!
What are your lasting memories of your time at the university?
Everyone was friendly, approachable and well organised. There was freedom to arrange your own placements.
Is there any advice you would give to graduates?
Arrange your placement early and think ‘out of the box’ – special schools like people who have a range of skills and have had a spectrum of employment, and broad life history.
