From Billy Elliot to Bond: Location, Location, Location...

Thanks to funding from Bright Futures, 25 students from the BA (Hons) Film and Television Production programme travelled to Newcastle to discover the secrets of television and film location managers at an event hosted by Northern Film + Media and the Royal Television Society

The event brought together three of the UK’s top location professionals (including our very own alumnus, Mally Chung) and covered film, television and commercials, from zero budget to Hollywood and all points in between.

From ‘Billy Elliot to Bond’ combined case studies, panel discussions and audience Q&A and included making budgets work, identifying locations and routes into the industry and roles available.

Mike Mitchell, Course Leader for Film and Television, said: “Providing our students with direct access to industry professionals is invaluable as it helps to shape future career choices in this complex and demanding market. We are grateful to ‘Bright Futures’ for enabling this opportunity to become a reality it was both educational and equally as important – it was inspirational.”
