Welcome to your course

Welcome to postgraduate study at the University of Cumbria. The MSc course you are about to undertake sits within several teams, including Applied Psychology, Working with Children and Families and Social Science – on behalf of all the staff, we’d like to welcome you to our team.

We see our welcome week programme as serving a number of key functions:

  1. Get to know the staff and other students on the course
  2. Find out more about your MSc and have the chance to ask about anything you’re unsure of
  3. Get to know the campus, find your way around and acquaint yourself with essential services such as the library and student support.
  4. Learn how to access and use our VLE (Blackboard)

We have planned a number of sessions and activities to form part of your induction to the course.  The first is on Monday 17th September where you will get an introduction to the wider team and then specifically an introduction to your course. We’ve also tried to give you plenty of opportunities to speak to staff too – please make sure you ask if there is anything you wish to discuss - and the opportunity to get to know the other students on your course.

The second is a library tour so you can find out more about our library and learning facilities. This is on Monday 24th September - you will need to book directly with Sally Frost (Sally.Frost@cumbria.ac.uk) if you wish to attend.
