Where will I study?

All of your classes are scheduled to take place at the University’s Fusehill Street campus in Carlisle.  Fusehill Street is a 10-15 minute walk from Carlisle rail station and has several pay & display car parks within close proximity.  1-2 hour disc parking zones are in operation in the streets around the campus for shorter visits. What is my timetable?

Students who are new to the Project Management courses at the University of Cumbria are invited to attend for an induction day on Wednesday 19th September 2018. Course Communications

Prior to starting your course you will receive a series of emails from the University that will guide you through registering as a student, uploading a photo for your student card and activating your student account.  These communications will be sent to the email address that you provided when you applied so please check this regularly and get in touch if no messages have appeared by mid-September.  Once you have been registered as a student on the programme, you will receive a new ‘University’ email address. Once created, your University email address will then be used for the majority of communications so you should get into the habit of checking this regularly or finding out how to forward email messages from your University account to your normal email address

Study Expectations

Typically, you will attend the University for 1 day per week.  On this day, you will usually have 2 x 3 hour classes, each of which will include some lecture content, practical exercises, group tasks, discussions or activities.  In addition to this scheduled time, you will be expected to undertake directed and self-study.  Directed study will be to engage with additional reading, practical exercises or online activities that your tutors specifically identify.  Self-study is that which you identify and undertake under your own direction, motivation and interest.  On a programme such as this, your experiences in the workplace can also be used to consolidate your learning, however to make best use of this opportunity it is advisable to set some time aside each week to actively look for these linkages and reflect on how the subjects you are being taught compare to your experiences in the workplace.  We would expect these additional study activities to occupy a minimum of 10 hours per week, which would of course include working on assignments as and when necessary.
